This is the longest break from blogging I have taken since I started blogging with any serious intent. I've been blogging for nearly nine years and in those first few years month long breaks were common.

I love where we live. There are mountains, the ocean, farms, a fascinating culture, great people, and affordable living. (There's a lot we don't have here either, but I choose to focus on the positives. No place is paradise.)

When I wrote about our kids' current elementary homeschool curriculum I mentioned the fantastic program called Herb Fairies that Brienne is using for her science studies. (This is not a science "program" but it fits the bill in our house for exploring nature during the elementary years.)

Last fall you might remember I went to a blogging conference. For me, the highlights of that conference were meeting online friends and acquaintances; bunking with Jamie, visiting with my dear friend Emily, traveling somewhere different, and learning more about better blogging.

Writing is a "subject" that stresses out many homeschool parents and kids. I get a lot of questions on the blog and in coaching sessions about writing, usually along these lines, "My kids' don't like to write. What do I do?"
