We took a walk today in the woods at Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park in Freeport. After our walk we had a picnic lunch on the rocky Casco Bay shore.
What a lovely spot for a lovely day. We visit this park every six months or so. The last time we were here it was for a walk in the winter woods. I love returning to familiar haunts in different seasons to mark the passing of time.
Speaking of passing time I am so enjoying this meditation/hobby of mine called knitting. I love taking it with me wherever I go and so when the kids say "can we play here for awhile?" am I more than happy to oblige since it gives me a chance to knit.
And I'm even more eager to say yes when I get to knit to the sound of waves lapping against a rocky shore with an osprey's nest in sight.
Hope you're all enjoying your weekend. With time to sit and knit. Or hike and swim or whatever it is that you enjoy best.
beautiful photos. so incredibly peaceful, i imagine. i have been very into sewing lately, but my beginner bag of knitting is patiently waiting for me, and i know exactly when i am likely to pick it back up again...our rustic, annual, lakeside week. and i look forward to it. nicola http://whichname.blogspot.com
nicola's last blog post... spring cleaning
how fun! i'm glad you're enjoying knitting. i haven't picked mine up lately, bella keeps my hands so full. did you know it's worldwide knit in public weekend? i think we should also have a world wide barefoot hiking day. there's just nothing like it, is there?
It looks beautiful. And peaceful. Maybe I should take up knitting -- I'm always bored-stiff when I take the kids to the park. They love it, but I'm counting the minutes until I can bribe them with a snack to take them home.
What a great spot! I love the sound of water lapping on the shore. By far one of my favorite sounds in the world. Is that a lady's slipper on top?
I love knitting too :)
What interesting flower pods/blossum's (first shot)! What are they called?
If I close my eyes, I can ALMOST imagine the sounds...great photos to go alone with the words...
That is a lady slipper. A wild flower found in the late spring/early summer woods.

I wish we lived close enough to the beach to go there quite often! I keep telling the kids we will plan a trip the Gulf one year...but I quite honestly dread the crowds of people wearing floss in their rears...I don't really want my 13 year old to see that...but I do long for a nice, quiet, secluded beach spot to spend a whole day...that would be so awesome! :0)
