New at Outsideways

Damien and I are writing up a storm these days at Outsideways. Ok, maybe not a storm of writing, but for us it's a lot. Our goal is publish there twice a week - one meaty "ideas" post on Monday and a Thursday photo post of recent adventures (because for us these aren't just ideas, these are things we endeavor to live).

Our work with the graphic designer is finally moving forward to polish and publish our logo. (Barter jobs are like this, a bit stop and go.)

We're gearing up behind the scenes for some fabulous stuff. Damien's programming our very own store as I type (programming the store will take a lot longer than finishing this post!) A store for us to sell our own products and services - e-books, audio and video teaching, coaching and who knows what else. We're excited!

By the way, this is something we can do for you also. Set up an online store for your products or services.

But back to Outsideways. There's a few recent posts I wanted to tell you about.

  • I'm running. Kinda' sorta'. Not only am I running but I've started endurance training. I don't talk about the endurance training part in Taking a Hiking Break, but I do talk about why I'm running, along with our whole family. I will be talking more about the endurance training in an upcoming homeschooling post.
  • It's no secret that Damien leads the show when it comes to our outdoor adventures. If you had told me fifteen years ago I'd be hiking and backpacking like I am today I would have been hard pressed to believe you. The reason I love hiking and backpacking so much now is mainly because of all the work Damien has done to ease me into it. Damien shares his tips and tricks in Your Best Backpacking Partner Might be Closer than You Think.
  • I have slowly, ever so slowly, been re-categorizing all our old posts to create a better resource for Outsideways readers. This week I came across the Fall Hiking Clothing Checklist. If you are wanting to hike this fall check out that post for what to wear to keep your family comfortable in the elements. Fall is my favorite hiking season.
  • This last link is not from Outsideways but from our minimalist shoe site Toe Salad. My personal friend, and Toe Salad Children's Editor, Charity Johnson, has posted a great video review on Unshoes Sandals for kids. This isn't the season for buying sandals, at least not here in the North Hemisphere. But keep this brand in mind for next spring. These look like great minimalist sandals for kids.

That's it. We run (ahem), we hike, we're backpacking partners, we wear minimalist shoes and we're "building" an online store.

What's new in your backyard?

Enjoying your posts on Outsideways. Very inspiring for me to continue on dreaming about more hiking even though it's not fitting into our hectic schedule at this time. It is ultimately what we want to do more of. Thanks for all your hard work on the blogs.

Beth, nice new photo! I keep trying to link back to your blog (the link you've provided when you comment but the link doesn't work). Could you reply to this comment or e-mail me the link? I'd love to what you're up to, or whatever you post on your blog. thx.
