Terrible Twos??

Brienne will turn 2 in one month. Our other children did not experience the terrible twos, threes, fours etc...But I am wondering if we are going to experience a taste with Brienne. She has always been more strong willed than the Celine and Laurent. She was an easy newborn and a fairly easy going infant but when she started to get more independent she started to show her fiesty side.

Unfortunately, being that she's the baby of the family we've indulged that nature a little bit and now we are paying for it. I guess better now than when she's 15. The last couple weeks have been difficult trying to reign her back in again. I've been taking a parentlng course at church that has been very helpful, essentially reminding me of things I know but have neglected to be diligent in. So, we are re-establishing the boundaries and our authority and tying to be diligent in the follow through. It's hard to say if we've been successful yet. She actually seems to be acting worse but I think she's really just testing to see how serious we are and how far she can go.

Pray that we will be steadfast in this adventure called parenting. That we will use these early years to build a very strong foundation for our relationship with them throughout the rest of their growing years and beyond. And to build a strong foundation of character and faith in their own hearts.

First of all, let me say that the terrible twos is only supposed to last for one year or less and then it becomes the trusting threes. At least that's what Spock said, if I remember correctly. So be encouraged to know that label doesen't extend all the way up to four! I am sure your love and patience will prevail and Brienne will be your lovely little angel before she turns three! But don't be entirely surprised if she doesn't give you a few extra gray hairs when she graduates and leaves home! Love, MOM Tougas
