Another movie recommendation

Ok, so this one isn't family friendly as my last recommendation was but it also is a must see. Syriana is a complex film that opens your eyes to the world of oil production. It reminded me of The Constant Gardener , also a must see movie. We just watched Syriana tonight and are left with the question of now what?? If anyone else has seen the movie I'd be interested in discussing the question of how complicit we are as consumers in the chain of events, as depicited in the movie, surrounding oil exportation and consumption. Obviously the movie is fiction, but similar to The Constant Gardener I have no doubt that the underhanded deals etc... protrayed are not far from reality. Thoughts anyone???

I've never heard bout 'Syirana'....glad you enjoyed it. I heard good things about 'The Constant Gardener', but we haven't seen it yet. Thanks for sharing!

We rented 'Failure to Launch' this weekend. A good date movie... light, funny and cute. It was similiar to 'How to lose a Guy in Ten Days', so if that's your kind of movie you'd like this one too.

We have seen both of those movies. 'The Constant Gardener' to us, was far better then 'Syirana'. Much more real and true. Lauren actually fell asleep during the movie 'Syirana'. It was a little boring. I personally don't know what to believe about the movie. I think they stretch the truth a little bit.

'Failure to Launch' was a good movie. We liked it. It was funny....Tonight we are watching 'City Of God'. It is a true story. For tomorrow we rented another true story. Can't remember the name!

I haven't heard about Syriana, but when it comes to our town, we will rent it. We saw 'The Constant Gardener' and we were shocked and horrified. I do believe it isn't too much of a stretch for truth. Just recently there was a news clip on MSN internet that mentioned that many people (maybe even about half), in Africa are turning to traditional (herbal) medicines to treat AIDS, even thought they have to buy the medicines out of their own pockets when the drugs are offered for free. This is causing some concern for the drug companies, (I wonder why???)! If you are ever at the doctor's office and the doctor offers some free sample meds, be sure to refuse, unless you like the idea of being a guinea pig! Free meds means you are volunteering to be a test patient.

I think everyone should make it their business to learn how to use the many wonderful herbs that are available and have been time tested for thousands of years! I am not saying that there isn't a place for conventional medicine, but it is generally a quick, temporary fix for a health problem. One still has to take responsibility to repair damaged health the old fashioned diet/herbal route. One thing I have to admit is that modern medicine has wonderful diagnostic tools.

A movie that Dad and I recently saw and really enjoyed is called 'Eight Below'. This is a family movie that will open your eyes to the intellengence of animals. Specifically, sled dogs in Antartica.

We saw 'Failure to Launch' and found it very entertaining.
