Carols and Music for the Season

Last night we took in Carols by Candlelight, A Holiday Celebration of Hope at the college chapel. The evening featured carols and other holiday music sung by campus a cappella groups, readings and carols sung by participants accompanied by pipe organ. Wow, what music. I can only describe it this way. As I listened to those voices in harmony it was like my chest was expanding with a really deep breath. But instead of oxygen my body was filling with music. And although I breathed deep but couldn't get enough.

I love listening to Christmas tunes this time of year. These are a few of my favorite albums.

Wintersong by Sarah McLachlan, especially In The Bleak Mid Winter.
Glory & Peace by Trevor Dick. I really like this CD for several reasons the main one being it's great instrumental music that features my brother, Brad Toews, on piano. My bro is a professional musician and home renovator. He's amazing at both. Oh and he's an AWESOME father to three and husband to my sis-in-law. So buy the CD.
A Christmas Album by Amy Grant. This is a seriously old CD but it has huge sentimental value to me. This was one of the first albums (it was a cassette tape I played in my Walkman) I ever owned. I received it as a birthday gift from my aunt and uncle the year I turned 8, 9 or 10, something like that. I loved it then and still do. It isn't Christmas if I haven't heard "Tennessee Christmas".
What are you listening to these days?
