the word for March

The creative-artsy blogs I visit, Shutter Sisters being one and a whole lot of others (see NIMBY for the blogs I regularly read), are choosing words for each month throughout the year and writing about or taking photos along that theme. I generally don't like to box myself in or commit to creative projects that I'm not really jazzed about so I haven't given the One Word idea much thought... until now.

I definitely have a word for March but I'm not sure I'll be able to take photos along that theme. How exactly do you find "regroup" through your viewfinder? Nor do I necessarily want to. There are enough "must-dos"in my life. I don't want my creative outlet to become another item to check off.

But having said all that, regroup is definitely my word for the month. It's not very flashy or awe-inspiring but it is oh so necessary. My mind and home life need a break from February's pace.

To that end I've taken a few things off my schedule for this month, like coordinating our monthly buying club order. I'm also taking a day off this Saturday, which I haven't done since last March when I attended Maine Garden Day. As in, I haven't had even 6 hours away from my family in the last year. And that's ok. I really do love being with them and to ask for a day off means my husband has to give up one of his days with me. It's hard for me to ask for it but I really need it.

So come Saturday I'm checking out after breakfast to do whatever I want. I'll start at the yarn shop then I'll head to the library to work on my first knitting project. I plan to eat lunch out, in peace and quiet (I'm breathing deeper just thinking about it) with a book. Then I want to plan the kitchen garden. I hope to come home late afternoon refreshed and ready for another year of steady loving and serving.

The rest of the month I need to re-focus on my kiddo's education after neglecting bits and pieces while we survived last month. Before I know it will be April and then it's all downhill as far as indoor school stuff goes. Once we get a taste of spring there's no way we'll be back inside.

Do you have a word for the month? How do you plan to pull through this last (and long) month of winter?

I think my word would be revitalize - goes well with regroup I think. Your Saturday sounds perfect for that. Soak it up!

i loved doing the one word project in february, because it gave me a bit of a break from blogging, which in some ways, IS my break, but was sucking a bit too much of my time. the one word project let me choose images and look around for images (which opened my eyes, again, to what surrounds me) that fit (in whatever way felt right to me) the word i had chosen. have fun with it, and if you aren't, than stop! :) nicola which name?
