WellTellMe.com

I want to introduce you all to this cool web site called welltellme.com, a forum dedicated to natural health and wellbeing. I've gone there recently to figure out how to:

  • Cure a UTI -lots of cranberry juice, blueberries, vit C and no sugar.
  • How to make my own dishwasher soap - currently experimenting with 1/2 baking soda, 1/2 borax and a cup of vinegar in the rinse, how to make my own laundry soap and other stuff.

This site helps me find information based on other people's experiences, homemakers like myself, in the areas of gardening, herbs, soapmaking, natural home & body products and much more.

I can't vouch for the nutrition section as I haven't visited it because we have that largely figured out for our family, at least until the next allergy pops up! I encourage you to check it out.

So far the best way to use the site, from my own experience, is to use the search feature for whatever I'm interested in. Otherwise I feel I could get lost in reading all the various threads.

I thought I would share another tip.

I find that taking a bath with baking soda helps to with the burn when having those kinds of things. I used to get them all the time as a child and my Mom would put me in the tub after going to the bathroom and it helped at times to take away the burn from going to the washroom. Now I do the same with Haylee and Harry.(Boys don't get them. Harry has a bacteria that often grows in his bladder which causes the same symptoms as a UTI infection.)

Pardon my ignorance but what does UTI stand for and what exactly is it? Is it a kidney infection, a bladder infection. a uterus infection or a yeast infection? Tropical fruits such as mangos, papayas and coconuts (and coconut milk) are excellent antiviral/antiyeast and antibacterial foods. Since 'no sugar' is mentioned, I am guessing that it is a yeast infection. Sugar makes the body more acidic. Sugar kills bacteria and fosters the growth of yeast. Normally, bacterial and yeasts keep each other in check in a PH balanced body. Usually, bacterial/yeast infections have something to do with a PH imbalance and a resulting overgrowth of either one. Yeasts and bacteria are opposites, ie. an over-acid PH will support one and kill the other and vice versa. Check your PH with PH strips and find foods that balance and normalize the body PH to correct bacterial/yeast overgrowths. A cup of hydrogen peroxide (3%) in bathwater is an excellent skin disinfectant that is also very skin-friendly. It is also the 'green solution' to whiten whites and brighten colors in your laundry. Food grade hydrogen peroxide is also an inexpensive way to whiten your teeth. After brushing your teeth with your normal toothpaste, spray a little hydrogen peroxide (food grade) on your toothbrush, brush, rinse and spit. Voila, whiter, brighter teeth! It disinfects the gums and teeth too!

OK, now that makes sense. I believe that a urinary tract infection is a BACTERIAL INFECTION. I think, that overgrowths of bacteria happen in a body that is a little to alkaline. Yeast overgrowths happen in a body that is a little too acidic. (They are opposites). Everyone has both yeast and bacteria in a healthy body, as the two keep each other in check. However, when the body is too alkaline, the yeast dies off and then the bacteria gets out of control and vice versa. Correct the body PH and the yeast/bacteria should also become balanced. However, viruses thrive in an acidic body, so you don't want to go too acidic, or you are inviting another problem to happen. It is my understanding that the healthiest condition is to have the body slightly more on the alkaline side of 7.3. By drinking lots of cranberry juice you are quickly changing the body PH to kill the bacteria.

Do you know if Well Tell Me is still around? It might just be a glitch this morning, but I went to find it and couldn't (then I saw that you'd written about it when I Googled it!). I haven't been there for probably a couple of years, but have been thinking about it lately. It was a great forum!

I was wondering myself what happened to welltell me because it wasn't coming up this am either. Your site pulled up though but I still wasn't able to get the link to well tell me to work. I don't know why. I remember loving to glean some natural remedies which have helped others. Haven't been on it for a long time.
