Pollett's Cove Backpacking Trip

Something I have been anticipating and looking forward to in moving to Nova Scotia is doing fun outdoor stuff with my mom.

While I’m still finishing school I don’t have as much time for these adventures as I’d like. (Will I ever have enough time?)

But between September’s travels to Montreal and autumn’s school schedule we were able to squeeze in a long weekend backpacking adventure in the Cape Breton Highlands.

It was bit of a drive. 6.5 hours from The Sanctuary. But we made a trip of it, bookending our backpacking with 2 motel nights.

Our destination was Pollett’s Cove and it did not disappoint. It was worth the drive. You can watch the video for more views, but this post has a few of my favorite photos to give you an overview.

I made a big mistake in my packing. And we were rescued from this mistake by a group a young people. You’ll have to watch the video to see what that mistake was 😉 Let’s just say it could have been a very uncomfortable night, but it wasn’t.

If you’re reading this in email you’ll have to click through to the blog to watch it. Or head straight to YouTube.

I look forward to returning to this area. Especially since there are plans to create a multi-day hiking trail from Pollett’s Cove to Meat Cove, further along the coast.

And I look forward to more adventures with Mom.
