Off to Common Ground Fair!

I feel like a kid on the eve of her birthday. Tomorrow is the first day of the Common Ground Country Fair. A highlight of my year. We leave as soon as I finish this post or Damien gets out of the shower, let's hope I'm done before he is!

I'm all packed. It delights me to no end that I've been able to pare down everything I need for the weekend (minus food and camera - I'm not sure which is more important) to this one bag.

The food is prepared. Making this granola for our breakfasts seemed to take most of Sunday. I made two batches; a "regular" version for the kids and I and a gluten-free version for Damien. This time with certified g-free oats instead of the gluten free granola I've made in the past. Yummy!

The plans are made. I've been reading and re-reading the fair schedule for weeks, usually during breakfast. Highlighting workshops I hope to attend (wild edible walk here I come!) and marking down must-sees. For sure we'll spend most of tomorrow in the Youth Enterprise Zone where young people ages 11-17 sell their artisan wares and crafts. Our kids talk about that tent all year and are already scheming what they can make and sell in the years to come.

Enough talk. I think that shower is coming to an end. The autumn sun is shining. The crickets are chirping. The car is packed and the farmer's field where we'll pitch our tent is calling. Oh, I almost forgot. My parents are meeting us there, driving down from Nova Scotia. Am I excited or what!
