it's about time! ~ a winner & mama starts to knit

knitting needles: by Brienne (made for mama - not part of the
giveaway)

This was supposed to be Laurent's giveaway so I was kind of leaving it up to him. He did remind me at the end of the first week "mom, we have to do the draw". But if you remember, that was during the craziness of February basement renovations, mailing my Christmas letters, getting ready for winter camping and celebrating Laurent's birthday.

I let it go and then he let it go and now we find ourselves almost a month later with still no winner.

So sorry my friends. Without further delay...

Claudia, photo artist and homeschooler, wins a pair of wooden knitting needles.

Tracey, a local friend and illustrator, wins a pair of polymer clay knitting needles.

Thank you everyone for playing along and commenting on Laurent's post. It does my homeschool mama heart good to see my son have a meaningful writing experience.

a shawl: my first knitting
project

Speaking of knitting you may have noticed that I've started this craft. Although I had to unravel the beginnings of my first real project a couple times, I am now well on my way and thoroughly enjoying myself. I recently joined the on-line knitting community at Ravelry as it seems I can't have a hobby that doesn't involve internet access. I have all kinds of ideas in mind, at this point mostly socks and mitts. Stuff we need to clothe these growing kiddos.

But this first project is mine, all mine and very non-utilitarian. Feminine and dare I say pretty for pretty's sake? I can't wait to see how it turns out. To be sure I'll share it with you all here.
