I'm dating someone

Date night So, I'm happy to say I'm dating again. He's a great guy - early 30's, really cute, has an active lifestyle and is in very good shape. He also just happens to be my husband. How lucky I am to be dating such a great guy who I'm already married to!

Once Celine arrived in our life it was harder for us to "date". Then when we moved to NJ it was actually impossible for us for a time until we trusted friends enough to babysit. Then another baby came along, more nursing. Another move to a new state - new relationships to build with potential sitters. Then another baby and more nursing. This is not to say you can't nurse and date - you definitely can! And we did still get out but it was harder especially without family.

Well the babies are grown, we have many trusted friends and a bit more disposable cash and all of this has allowed us to actually date regularly - and I love it!

One of my favorite dates is our weekly racquetball game at the college. I take the kids to our close friend's home who also homeschool. We pay their 12 year old daughter a small amount to watch our kids for the hour. But her mom & other siblings are there too so we know they're in good hands. This family lives essentially in our neighborhood and also in the neighborhood of the college where I meet Damien (where he also works). It's wonderful. I look forward to this get away so much every week. The actual time we spend playing together is a lot of fun- we're too busy keeping the ball in play to talk about house projects, the budget, the kids, or any other issues. And I get to exercise. Damien is very disciplined about daily exercise. I'm not. I want it to be fun or purposeful (like walking because you have somewhere to go). Playing racquetball is very fun and such a treat getting out of the house.

Our other regular date is contra dancing once a month, also at the college. Come to think of it the college provides most of our social life these days. Just this past weekend we attended the annual Gala - a big whoopdedo dance. That's what the picture is from - our sitter took it for us before we went.

Next week we have 3 dates: racquetball, contra dancing, and a taste of L-A. Kind of like a taste of Edmonton but only for one day also on campus. We're doing that for lunch one day next week. Have to say I'm liking all this dating!

Glad to hear you had a great time at the college event and you are enjoying dating again. Sounds like you have had some pretty fun outings together. It is great when you do something active together that takes concentration, like you say it eases your mind for that time. Kelly and I played tennis most of July and August and part of September after work alot and we loved the exercise and the release of stress from work it allowed. If only you guys lived closer, we could babysit for you too.......oh what fun we would have with the kids building forts out of blankets and pillows.....maybe when we are in Rocky. (smile)

Renee, you look terrific, but then you have a great guy to gussie up for! I am so glad you're dating - the same guy you married, the father of your children. Don't ever stop.
