If I Give You a Tip will you Give Me a Vote?

It's voting season again at The Homeschool Post. I admit, it's not a blog I regularly follow, but FIMBY has been nominated in their annual Homeschool Blog Awards competition. That's kinda cool.

So, like any politician I'm going to make you a promise. But unlike most politicians I can actually keep mine!

Let's make a deal then shall we? You go and vote for FIMBY in the Best Variety Blog category (it's really easy you just click that little dot next to FIMBY and then hit Vote) and in exchange I share a really great, tried-and-true homeschooling/home management technique.

Here's the disappointing part of this deal. You can read all about that technique and never even visit The Homeschool Post, never mind vote. Because you see I'm sharing that technique today over at Simple Homeschool.

But before you all link over to Simple Homeschool, wanting to get the goods with nary a thought to the popularity contest going on here let me remind you how much you love FIMBY.

You do love FIMBY don't you? The vegan, g-free recipes (ok, those are kind of sparse), crafty inspiration, soap and body care recipes, the nature photography, giveaways, not to mention homeschool resources.

All of which comes FREE to you and without annoying ADVERTISING. A little lovin' on your end isn't too much to ask, now is it?

I know what you're thinking, "I don't homeschool". Oh, but the organizational tool I'm sharing is not exclusively for homeschoolers. In fact, it's for anyone with a busy life who is trying to:

  • keep on top of important activities
  • make a new routine into a habit
  • set aside time for personal growth and development

Now tell me that isn't worth voting for. Actually don't tell me, just keep those negative opinions to yourself, my self esteem can't handle it.

To remind you here's the link to vote and here's the link to my post at Simple Homeschool. Just remember, reading that post is your prize for voting.

Now go do the right thing.

Congratulations on being nominated, Renee! I just gave you my vote. Your anchoring post is very inspiring, I think I probably need to do something like that. Also, I see lots of changes here - Twitter!! ANd how did you manage such a slick and simple widget?

Hi Renee - You've got my vote! And thanks for the "anchoring" idea. I have a really hard time making new habits stick. I've been wanting my 8 year old daughter to practice reading more often because she's hit a bit of a plateau in reading progress. Her interests and ability to comprehend are more advanced than her reading skills at this point. She's bored with early chapter books but not yet able to sink her teeth into the meatier types of books I read to her. I believe that reading begets reading, so the answer is that she just simply needs to read more. It's tough to get her to sit down and do it though and I'm not inclined to force it on her. So, yesterday I just casually set a basket of books on the kitchen table. She read several books with her breakfast and lunch. Right now she's reading while she eats a before bed snack. We'll see if she keeps it up. Thanks for the idea as well as for your inspiring blog. Colleen
