How to Homeschool the Preschool Years

In your heart you know this is a very special time. Everything is new and exciting to your child, their enthusiasm is boundless (your energy is not!), and they help you see the world through fresh eyes. This is the beautiful first step on the interest-led homeschooling journey.

But your friend's kids are off to preschool and they actually learn stuff at preschool these days. Letters, days of the week. Your son can't do up his velco shoes, never mind learn his letters! Preschool used to be just a break for mom but now it's "the first step on the road to academic success".

You get a little panicky. The grandparents are asking when Madison will learn her letters, and she's only three. You start to second guess and doubt. You know you don't want to send your kids to an out-of-home preschool but maybe you should, you know, start "doing school at home" just to keep up.

Slow down mama. Breathe.

Let's have a chat.

I would love to share my heart with you about the role of the early years in a child's education. Those years we consider pre-school.

I want to tell you what worked in our home (and for many other interest-led homeschooling families). How we laid the foundation for the years ahead. Years of living, loving and learning together.

My oldest is thirteen, my baby is just turning ten. Our preschool years are well behind us now but they were beautiful, a bit busy (three children born in three in a half years will do that), messy and most of relaxed in terms of "schooling".

This talk will help ease your worry as I share some of the things I've learned along the way. I will lay out for you a preschool curriculum that will not stress you out, that will build on your strengths and your children's interests and, perhaps most importantly, lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

You want to homeschool your kids (or maybe you're still on the fence and preschool is a bit of trial run). I want to encourage you in these precious beginning years.

Join our Learning in Love Preschool Teleconference on Saturday, November 17th at 2pm EST.

To sign up for the teleconference click here to find out all the details you need to know about the format, how to pay and how to connect.

The cost of the teleconference is just $15 and includes an audio recording of the session. Registration is limited to twenty participants.

The first ten registrations get a free copy of my e-book Nurturing Creativity. (Creativity is an important part of the preschool years for you and your kids.)

This is what moms from my last teleconference had to say about my teaching:

The information was really comprehensive and practical. One thing I can get tired of after a while is the philosophical side of homeschooling. I understand the concepts, but what those of us who are rather new to this need is practical application, which is exactly what was provided. It went a long way to allaying the fears I try NOT to bring to our learning efforts—so thank you! ~ Melissa D.
It was exactly what I needed to hear in this stage of our homeschooling journey and I’m excited to start our school year with a refreshed spirit. If you decide to extend the conference into the next age group, I’ll be the first in line to attend ~ Melissa S.
I wanted to take a moment to share from the bottom of my heart my thanks for your taking the time to put this together... hearing your passion and enthusiasm with several years of this under your belt is so truly uplifting. ~ Ashley

Do you mind if I announce this at My Home school Mom's Connect Night tonight? We have many seasoned moms (with kids in college), but we also have some just starting out.

    Hi Renee

I'm in Europe so I wouldn't be able to be an active participant because of the time difference. Will you have a transcript available afterwards, for purchase? It would be great to get that.

    Best wishes

My boys are 6 and 5. They will be Gr 1 and Gr 0 (compulsory year before school starts) next year according to our school system. Would this be the right age-group Teleconference for me to join in on or will you do one for the Junior Primary Phase soon?

Debbie, I've already done a session for homeschooling at your boys' ages. You can purchase the audio recording of Homeschooling from The Heart from our on-line store. You could also join the preschool session if you want as I am gearing it towards ages 3-6, so there is some overlap with my other session (which is how organic, interest-led learning works).

I'm so looking forward to this! Just finished reading your "Nurturing Creativity" ebook -- wonderful and practical reminders & encouragement. It reminds me of Edith Schaeffer's The Hidden Art of Homemaking (that is high compliment from me!)

Thanks for writing this book & making it available - and thanks for this teleconference - I'm excited to learn more !
