A better May day

Today was a day of home & hearth, I:

  • got up at 6:30, read my RSS, e-mail, enjoyed my morning coffee and was done on the computer before the kids were up at 7:30
  • read the Bible with the kiddos, listened to Gershwin tunes played on a svelte clarinet while doing chores
  • organized Celine's spring & summer clothes
  • planned the week's menu and made the list for my once a month trip to the grocery store
  • started to plan Celine's 10th birthday celebration
  • helped Celine plan her supper prep night - gluten free pizza found via Graceful Creative
  • prepared and ate a salad lunch with the kids and read a fascinating article about ground ivy, the weed that is a herb
  • wrote for an hour and drank tea
  • ate a mud-pie pizza - yummy!
  • helped Laurent dig his pond
  • helped Celine build a bed (newspaper, compost & mulch) for her perennial garden
  • built Brienne's perennial bed for her, while she took an unexpected afternoon nap
  • concocted a very tasty vegan shepherd's pie using fridge leftovers and the end of the week's vegetables (tomorrow is produce day)
  • enjoyed a smoothie, made by my husband, for dessert
  • cleaned up the kitchen while Damien watched on-line videos with the kids
  • made a new batch of lotion, using homemade green tea extract, apricot & avocado oil
  • </ul> Today I took care of my family, my home, and myself. Today was a good May day.

It sounds like a lovely day. I think "comfort and control" are my two best friends, too.

I hope you and your family enjoy the gluten-free pizza as much as we do.

Mmmmmm...that mud pie looks delish. Right now my house is full of flowers (weeds) picked for me by my children. Isn't spring just wonderful!

love the shoe shot. it sounds wonderful, especially the writing and the music and the reading and... oh nevermind, it's all great! someday i hope to be organized enough to go just once a month to the grocery store. perhaps now that dave's settling in to a 9-5 job we'll get there. i'm glad you're getting to enjoy every bit of spring!
