Coming together as a group to create something larger than ourselves requires us to depend on each other, trust each other, challenge each other, and love each other. And being part of a group of people that is committed to doing that and is willing to grow in the process is humanity at its best. (As it happens, this is also why I belong to a religious community.)

We have gained so much from being members of our homeschool co-op; a social life and friends, academic experience, and participation in the yearly drama production - an all-hands-on-deck community endeavor.

When I think about how many problems exist in the world and all the ways in which we need to heal, restore, repair, bring peace and justice to our neighborhoods and society, I look at the capabilities of this group of dedicated and Christ-inspired families and I have hope that change is possible.

Our homeschool community had a Prom this spring. Our beautiful, teenaged and young adult kids in fancy clothes, being feted and photographed by their grey-tinged, a wee bit wrinkled, camera-happy, tired but proud parents.
