Name That Soap Contest

Ok, I'm going to be honest upfront, I love your comments. It's reassuring and somehow validating to know that someone, anyone, is reading what I've spent time writing. And maybe you're encouraged, enjoyed a pretty picture, had a laugh or can identify with growing gardens and the joys & struggles of 24/7 raising children. Either way I'm so glad you stop by and I want to hear from you.

So...I'm asking for help in naming my latest batch of soap. Yipee, it's a contest (I love blog contests) with a nice prize.

You see, I made a batch of soap a couple weeks ago and on paper all the ingredients sounded lovely and I planned to call it Carrot Blossom. But when I took it out of the box (I mold my soap in boxes lined with plastic bags) and cut it up it just didn't look or smell like Carrot Blossom. Here's a photo and the ingredients. What do you think it should be called?

Vegetable oil, carrot juice, olive oil, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide (lye), lavender, orange, sandalwood and patchouli essential oils.

The scent is predominantly lavender and sandalwood.

Post a comment with a soap name. It could be the dumbest most unique soap name on the planet, doesn't matter. Although if you think of a cool name that would be great. By the way, I don't sell my soaps - yet. So, your name won't make or break my soap sales. Just trying to generate some interesting comments and treat someone to a great prize.

Which is... 3 bars of my homemade soap. I currently have 3 different kinds to give:

  • Coffee Soap- great for removing onion and garlic smell from fingers after cooking and also a lovely shower exfoliating bar.

  • Gentle Oatmeal Soap - For sensitive skin, rich and moisturizing.
  • As-of-yet Unnamed Orange Soap - smells and looks fabulous, though a little softer than I prefer, oops.
  • The winner will be chosen at random. I'd like to say I'll use some fancy random-prize-picker but I don't want to assume I'll get that many comments. Either way you can be assured I will not show any favoritism smile.

Thanks for commenting, this could be fun as I'm sure some of you are much more creative in the naming department than I.

Oh yeah, contest ends Sunday, June 15th (Father's Day) at midnight. I'll post the winner and send an e-mail. At which point I'll get your address so I can mail you your prize. Please don't post that info in your comment.

This soap looks like cheddar cheese, but that wouldn't make a good name for soap or a vegan! Can't think of a name right now, but that coffee soap sounds like it would be a hit here in "coffee country".....show those Ticos a thing or two!!! It must smell great! I'll be thinking! Wouldn't mind winning a bar....hint, hint! Cindy

I am really not very creative when it comes to naming things but I would love to try some of those soaps so here is what I've come up with: Orange Lavender Lame, I know, but I really did try!

I really liked your "Blossom" idea. So instead of carrot...I think I would go for "Orange Lavender Blossom".

Ok, here are my random, creative meanderings from looking at your soap. :) (I love this kind of thing!) The coloring adn texture makes me think of fall, and earth, the ingredients make me think of spring and blossoms. Hmmmm. I will try different styles of names. First-

Poetic: Alluvium (def: 1.a deposit of sand, mud, etc., formed by flowing water. 2.the sedimentary matter deposited thus within recent times, esp. in the valleys of large rivers. [Origin: 1655–65; < L, n. use of neut. of alluvius washed against)

That would make a good name brand! :) I love the meaning and the origin...sorry, I LOVE words!

Harvest Blossom Or Harvest Bloom Spring Harvest (ooops! did I put my name in that one!)

If I could smell it that would help. :)
Can you tell I've been in the house with 3 kids with chickenpox! LOL! I will probably be working on this all day now.. thanks for giving me something else to think about!

Looking at the bars, I thought of Triple C - creamy, caramel, carrot. But that blend doesn't seem quite right, so I'm going for: Lavish Creamy Carrot. Thanks for making me think a bit.

Hmmm. I love contests, and there are some great suggestions already. How about Orange Musk, Summer Musk. In thinking of this name, I had to ask myself what 'musk' really meant anyways. . . check it out on wikipedia! I will surely loose the contest just for the meaning of my suggestion. Oh well.

Spring, in administrator mode I can access the info for the comments and see the e-mail account so I could tell it was you. Also, the chicken pox tipped me off.

        Marc,

Actually, my supply is low (down to a few bars) otherwise I could part with some. It doesn't smell like coffee but has a coffee color and coffee grounds for an exfoliant. It removes onion and garlic odor from your hands, so I use it in the kitchen. It's great in the shower for an all over scrub as well. But unfortunately no coffee scent - that would be heavenly. Renee
