Why I love Maine, reason number 36:

The term "off the grid" comes up fairly often in conversations & media (at the least with the people I know). And when you bring it up people know you aren't talking about drawing your line off the graph paper. If you know what I mean.

I have fantasies of living off the grid in a wood heated & solar powered cabin, growing a huge organic garden, trading and bartering for most of my needs. Although I am a happy urban dweller I have my days, like when I have lots of errands or when I'm freezing in my non-wood stove heated and energy inefficient home, when I think about a cozy life in the woods, minus all the real deprivations that naturally accompany this type of living.

(I'm sure I've listed at 35 different reasons why I love Maine in my previous 4 years worth of blogging so I thought I'd call this reason number 36)

Northern Ontario - ha, ha. I'm not a real back to lander type - just have fanciful ideas about simple living and not needing to run errands : )

You and Lauren should talk about your ideas on how to live. He has same of the same "dreams" as you. I will admit if it wasn't for me.....we would be half way there already.
