Spring waits for no man (or woman)

As per usual the season is following a timeline of its own, regardless of my opinion in the matter.

After a week of temperatures in the 50's and 60's and days of unbroken sunshine I'm willing to condede that spring has arrived in Maine, weeks ahead of my schedule.

It's felt like a scramble this week to enjoy the sunshine filled afternoons, start cleaning up the perennial beds and search for sun huts, sneakers and bike helmets while attempting to finish the spring cleaning of the upstairs.

Sorting, de-cluttering and cleaning our three bedrooms was my household project this winter and painting the girl's room was the biggest part of that. Trying to finish that project with an early spring arrival has challenged my cleaning and organizational discipline (smile).

Cleaning schmeaning. Spring refuses to be denied so we've played along; the kids do especially well at dropping everything to enjoy warmer weather!

  • Celebrating St. Patrick's day with a day of green. Green food, green leprechaun kisses, green clothes and even a bit of green grass.
  • Taking bikes and boards out for a ride. I'm even on my bike this year now that Brienne is an almost confident two wheeled rider!

  • Building outdoor fairy dwellings. The fairies want a change of scenery also from their usual indoor hidey holes.
  • Having the first ice cream of the season from the corner ice cream shack and eating lunch outdoors on the picnic table.

Between spring activities, having my early mornings sabotaged by the time change and the little bit of school I've smooshed into our days (trying our best to keep up with math practice all year round) the week has flown by with nary a moment for mama to write or reflect

Spring has arrived in all its grass-stained knees splendor.

It's done! I finished it up yesterday.  Like I said, it was a scramble this week but I'm done what I set out to accomplish this winter in household organization. Once I write about it I will truly feel the project is complete.  Look for that post coming soon.

I know! The change of seasons always gets me rushing around looking for flip flops, bathing suits and beach gear or...mittens, snow suits and boots. Why can't I organize it before I put it away? It gets me every spring and winter!

Yay Spring! This has been the nastiest Winter I've ever seen here in Texas. I'm so jealous of you, Renee. Tomorrow we're supposed to get SNOW! SNOW! It's 70 degrees today! But, no... snow tomorrow. Crazy. Just like when we had the blizzard on Christmas Eve last year. It was 70, then we got 14" of snow in hours.

    Enjoy the sunshine for me!

Renee, I really need your upcoming post! I woke up to a beautiful sunny day, and need to hike with my kids! Yet.... the laundry. The house, the stuff. Ugh. I need an intervention. I hope you are out having a great hike at least, and have a lovely weekend! -Shawn
