What are affliliate links? Most simply explained, if I link to a retailer, business or individual that I'm affiliated with and you click there and purchase something I will get a small financial payment.
Most notable of these are book links (I like to read), which take you in most cases to Amazon.com. Any purchase you make (not just books) after arriving at an affiliate link, earns me a small commission - thanks!
Affiliate links show up as links in blog posts, emails, newsletters and pdf downloads and instructional materials.
It goes without saying (but I still have to say it) I only recommend products I believe are helpful for readers, the same things I would recommend to a good friend. You have my word.
Since July 2012 I have received compensation for some of the product reviews you see on the blog. This is clearly marked at the bottom of those posts. In fact, it might be what brought you to this page. I've done less than 5 compensated reviews in the past 6 years, it's not a big focus in my writing.
I do not accept compensation for my opinion, ie: you can't buy my good recommendation or endorsement.
I do accept compensation for my time and expertise in evaluating products, services and/or brands.
I don't review a lot of products so you can be certain the ones I do review I give careful consideration to and think about your needs (what can encourage and inspire you to live a creative, healthy and adventurous family life) as well as my own.
Sometimes I will casually review something I have personally purchased and simply want to share with you. Obviously, I'm not getting compensated for that, but I will probably include affiliate links (see above) where you can purchase the product or service for yourself.
Other times, I will be given the product for review but not compensated for my time in writing the review. And there may be times where I receive a cash payment, gift or other thing of value from a company affiliated with a brand, service, or product.
In any event, I will disclose that in the post. I have nothing to hide.
