March break & renovations

I posted earlier this month about taking a break from our usual school routines these past couple weeks. That break is coming to an end but it was very productive.

My parents came to visit for a week with the express purpose of repairing and painting our dining room walls - God Bless 'em. I attended my first homeschooling convention. Once I got over the prolific denim and corduroy jumpers and Republican politics I enjoyed myself a lot, learning about lapbooking and having some time alone. Brienne starting swimming lessons and so far so good. Only a few tears after the first session about having to jump off the end (into the instructor's arms). But the next time she was prepared and jumped all by herself without the "friendly" shove from the instructor.

Now I have to get back into a regular bedtime and morning discipline - arghh. Only 2.5 more months of an attempt at routine before we give ourselves over to gardening and all things outdoors.
