Camera Sabbatical

Starting yesterday I am taking a "forced" sabbatical from photography. For over a year now the connector cover (the little flap that closes over the USB connector and other gizmos) hasn't closed properly. I couldn't bring myself to part with my camera for an unspecified period of time, never mind the cost of shipping and fixing the darn thing.

But I knew it must be done... sooner or later. I decided last fall to send it in this month. Historically, January is my "driest" photo month being that the indoor natural lighting during this dark time is so terrible and the outdoors is freeze-your-fingers cold.

I have some birthday and Christmas money to help pay for the fix and so yesterday I packaged it up to send off (insurance cost more than actual shipping charges).

It's been quiet on the blog this week. Trust me, I've noticed. I am not taking a blogging sabbatical though it might look that way. There is a lot of back-to-routine work to do since coming home and then there's the big news that I've mentioned a couple times but am still unable to share (killing me by the way). It all makes for an intense week.

Hoping yours is a bit more sane.

PS. Yes, I do take photos now and then of myself in the mirror. This time was to show off the new camera strap cover I won with the Homeschool Blog Awards at The Homeschool Post last fall. The cover was donated by the talented Ruthanne at eclectic whatnot. I love it! I won some other cool stuff also. Thank you all so much for voting (smile).

I would be very, very sad without my camera. But you planned and timed your sabbatical well (no big surprise there!), and I hope your camera will be fixed and back soon.

Hello, Beautiful Lady. LOVE the picture. I just got a new Nikon for Christmas - It's completely overwhelming...so much to learn.

I've been taking lots of photos (mostly outside) because like you said, the indoor lighting is SO awful. Our house is so dark though that even in the summer the lighting is awful. :)

Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get your camera back; the days are getting longer. :)

Love the picture too. I have the feeling that if I took a picture of myself in the mirror, it wouldn't look quite as good. Terribly un-photogenic. I did notice the camera strap. I'm having camera and strap envy at the moment.

Cute photo. Love your short, short hair. Did your inspiration column disappear?

      Kika,

Oh darn, you noticed that eh? My internet time is very limited these days and I haven't been able to update it. Also, delicious, which is what I use for that, might close shop so I'm considering other options. For now it's disabled. Did you like that feature? I will take that into consideration for when and if I have time to bring it back.

To funny! As soon as I saw the picture of you I thought ooooh I love her camera strap. Mine is plain ole black and boring. Hope you get your camera back soon. I can't wait to see what you are up to for the new year.a

Great pic. I simply cannot take my own picture in the mirror. I always manage to cut something off...one side of the face, top of my head etc.!

Can't wait to hear the big news. It sounds too exciting.

Your eyes are like glass in this pic--beautiful. I take shots of myself in the mirror sometimes, too, in an attempt to capture my life as it is. These days, it is usually a bit messy and featuring a babe in arms.

My mirrors are never this clean--well done.
