Big girl bed

Today we dismantled Brienne's crib and set up the toddler bed. I remember very clearly the day we bought the toddler bed - a steamy hot New Jersey July day. We noticed the bed in a yard sale near our house and after driving by drove back to check it out. Celine was 26 months and very pleased with her new bed. Likewise Brienne was very happy about the her new bed today.

For the first time in 2 years Brienne has been consistently sleeping through the night from bedtime (8:30pm) till 7:00-8:00am. We just recently weaned her from the early morning nursing in our bed. Now we figure she's ready for a real bed. Time will tell, I hope it improves from tonight though. She's been up & down, up & down, she's "tiewood", "hummy", "chwee", needs to "get sumping". Currently I think she's up, standing in the dark in the bedroom, I can feel it. Celine and Laurent abandoned the noisy transition in the bedroom for the quiet of our room a long time ago...

I was right, she was up again. I just spent the last 15 minutes laying on the floor next to her bed till she fell asleep. Meanwhile, Celine's asleep in our bed and Laurent's still awake asking to sleep on the floor also because "remember that time that Celine slept on the floor in our bedroom" -Yikes this could be a long night. Not sure what possessed me to do this the night Damien is gone to Boston!

Very cute. I recognize the Pooh blanket that we gave her for Christmas. Do they each have their own room or are the sharing?

Mom, all the kids share one room. At times it's challenging but definitely do-able. They have a large room with enough space for beds, dressers, a shelf and toys - they're quite comfortable. The hardest part is when they wake each other up but we work through that as families did for many years before 4 bedroom houses were the norm. When we move we hope to have 3 bedrooms + a den/office space. That way the girls can share one room and Laurent will have his own "boy space". But for now it works just great!

It's been 3 nights and Brienne has been sleeping very well in her new bed. The first night she fell out once. But I heard immediately and had her back in her bed before she really even woke up. The second night I had to spend some time in the middle of the night sleeping on the floor next to her. Last night she wandered into our bedroom around 5 and Damien took her back and stayed very briefly and then she was fine. She's going to sleep well, taking a little longer than usual as she adjusts, and waking up at her usual time - not too early. I'm so pleased with how she's doing - my baby keeps growing up.
