Autumn's flowers


We have a couple friends in the hospital. After a bowl of three sisters soup (pumpkin, green beans, kidney beans) for supper we're driving down to Portland, where they both are, to visit them this evening. So this morning I went out to harvest what I could find still blooming in my yard. I picked these flowers and made up three bouquets, one for each and one for our table. I love delivering these gifts of the season from my very own garden.

While I was out rambling through my little yard this morning I decided to cut the best of my hydrangea blossoms for drying. I've been so inspired by posts I've read, particularly this one by GardenMama, I just had to try it for myself.

There's been a lot of flower & foliage autumn beauty in blogs I read lately.
