And the work goes on & on

The work in the basement is a never ending monster. Ok well it's not quite this bad but it feels this way sometimes. We're either in the basement (I'm keeping the house running while Damien's in the basement), out buying supplies (many trips to Home Depot and Lowes) or planning the next stage of work. Damien has done a fantastic job on the drywall and thanks to our new tenant, who is working also in the basement, we're almost done the walls of the laundry and bathroom. Another coat of paint and we'll be done. Then it's onto installing the flooring throughout the whole apartment and a bunch of other little things and we're done. Just in time for Sept 1. These renovations have pretty much consumed our lives the past couple weeks but we, or at least I, got a reprieve this week.

My aunt and cousin came to visit on their way to taking my cousin to college. It was a whirlwind visit but we certainly made the most of it. They stayed 2 nights and one day. On the day they were here we took the ferry to Peaks Island. I've never been before and it was such a lovely trip. After our visit to the island which consistly mostly of hanging out on the beach we walked around the Old Port. It was a gorgeous day, such fun to have family come visit.

The air and weather have been changing. I hate to say it but fall is definitely in the air. I know we will have hot and humid days between now and October but they will be few. I am ambivalent, as always, about this change. I'm giving myself a month to transition to fall. I still have so much more I want to do in the garden this summer. These renos have put a bit of a hold on those plans, I just haven't had the time.

To end on a funny note: Celine made Brienne her own diary today. Brienne told me I couldn't look in her "diarrhea" because it was secret.
