I'm not sure how my six year old got introduced this week to 70's Heart music. I'll blame it on my husband, he must of been singing a phrase or tune or something that piqued the kid's curiosity. I know I certainly wasn't the one who said "here, let me find Barracuda on YouTube". Inexplicably, my daughter was hooked.
"I like that song! " was the enthusiastic response."Do you really like that music?", spoken from a mother's folky, fiddle-music loving perspective.
"I love it! I want to buy it on iTunes". Oh, oh. I realized too late my error. My barely hidden disapproval made the song that much more appealing for my daughter. It was a losing battle.
So my 6 year old convinced her 7 year old brother (my 9 year old was indifferent) to pool their they coins together to pony up the $1.04 to buy the song.
Now each day Brienne asks me to "play that fish song mom".
Do you think Classic Rock counts for Classical Music Education?
Heehee, I love heart. Oh play her some Indigo Girls too. That will fill your hippy need and her bit of rock curiousity. (spelling, just ignore)
Hope you and the fam have a great weekend. Tell the hubs to get on your masterhead. I miss seeing your pretty pictures up there. ;) xxoo, a.
Funny, i suspected you might like heart. Oh, and we love Indigo Girls.
Yikes, those are my photos on the header right now, LOL! I haven't taken many photos lately so I just pulled a couple I had that might crop ok for the header. I see I better start picking up the camera more! Been in a different space this past week. The post-Christmas, get life in order space I guess. But today I took and walk and took photos, froze my buns but it was oh so wonderful to be out, alone with just my camera and the late afternoon sun!
Hope to post some "prettier" photos soon. Thanks for the kick in the butt.
Yep, just had to hit refresh!! There it is! Love the red lantern pic! It was totally only dark blue when I was here earlier. (((sorry!!))) :) :) xxoo, a.
too funny! I personally like the red lantern pic but there's also a crystal snowman shot in the mix that isn't my fav.
My son's nickname is Barracuda after this son. His father began "dance parties" on their Boy's nights (when I have to go to work and they get Dude time together). The Barracuda by Heart was an instant hit and has been his nickname every since.
I don't know about musical education, but 45 minute dance parties qualify as some PE in our house :)

It is so interesting to discover what our children are drawn to...it could certainly lead to a study of pop culture in the 70s!
