sparkly Sunday

These photos really are worth 1,000 words, unfortunately they don't "speak" that much. Kind of blah in the story telling department. But...there's a big story behind them, it's just too bad I don't have time to write it. Ok, you twisted my arm; in a nutshell it's this: today we went hiking and the sparkly fields on the way there were so beautiful I could cry and I did when my husband wouldn't stop and let me take photos.

That's not really how it happened but it's good spin on the truth.

I swear I said "I'd really like to stop here and take photos" but seeing as I say that every time we drive... anywhere (to the grocery store for heaven's sake) he didn't know that I really, really meant it. And there was a bunch of other stuff happening with the kids and boom before you know it, the moment is passed, you're on the trail fuming at yourself for not communicating clearly and at your husband for not reading your mind.

But then you find pretty little things elsewhere to photograph and the day perks up. Pretty, but not spectacular like sunlight through rising mist in the frosted valleys. Oh yes, it was that beautiful, I saw it. Have no photos to prove it. But as my children (ever the encouragers) tell me, "there's always next time Mommy".

(Please don't feel too bad for me, my husband's a wonderful guy who honestly didn't realize how important that was to me. Once we cleared the air and my toes warmed up on our chilly hike the day went splendidly well, you can read more of that story here.)
