It's still summer & saunas

I released my latest YouTube video this week.

Titling these things is a trick. Whereas, I don’t care about keywords and SEO for titling my essays and posts (or writing them for that matter), I do care for YouTube.

I have a different vision for my YouTube channel than I have for my writing. Quite frankly, I would like to monetize at YouTube, which is not a goal for my blog.

So the titles are a mouthful, in a different way than my writing titles, which are also a mouthful. I have much to figure out and learn but that’s part of the appeal of the YouTube project, another personal growth and learning edge to explore.

Anyway the video is titled: Sand Dollar Beach NS Moon Snails | House Entry Tour | Herbal Apothecary | DIY Projects | Blueberries. That gives you a very good idea what you can expect in watching it.

One of the things I am so excited about for the property, which shows up on this video, is the sauna!

My dad is building (installing?) a sauna. It will makes its appearance at The Sanctuary sometime this fall, in time for winter sauna-ing.

As a lover of all things Scandinavian and Nordic culture this development makes me very happy.

I’ve never been to a day spa, Nordic spa, any kind of spa experience, which is usually where people go for sauna.

Making the effort to go somewhere for a half or full day to sit in saunas and hot and cold pools has never had a strong appeal for me. The physical experience, especially if it’s in nature, that does appeal to me, but there are other things I’d rather do with those funds and time.

Or maybe I just can't imagine myself sitting that long.

I know many people who recommend the experience, especially in the winter. If it's a choice between one or other we'd rather go skiing.

I have to say though, skiing followed by sauna sounds amazing, and something I’ve never done.

I’m looking forward to a sauna on the property that you can use in the evening, without having to drive anywhere. Because we’re sharing it with my parents and we’re North American, born and raised, I’m certain we won’t be having a true Scandinavian sauna where we’re all naked together. This is a situation I don’t even like imagining.

I don’t know how to talk about using a sauna. Do we say “go to the sauna” or “have a sauna” or “take a sauna”? Are you in a sauna or are you having a sauna? Both?

Anyway, enough about saunas, we’re still firmly in summer here.

And this video is completely summer.
