Friday night window shopping

Those of you who were feeling sorry for me after my last post about kitchen disasters and deprivation, needn't any longer. A new (& improved design) soymilk maker is on its way, the oven works, I baked very non-vegan sugar cookies on my birthday and yesterday Damien and I went out for a celebratory birthday supper. A rich and spicy Indian meal complete with pakora, curried paneer, onion (lots of onion) chutney and garlic nan bread. Way off the wagon for my dear husband but it was my birthday feast after all. And I loved it!

Afterwards we walked down Exchange street through the old port of Portland (the place we go for special occasions). Store windows were lit up and shops open late for holiday shoppers. And there was nothing I wanted or needed to buy, except for the 3 teensy stocking stuffers I bought for the 3 special kiddos in my life.

Having no shopping to do we didn't know what to do with ourselves so we went over to Whole Foods for Maine Maple's organic gelato for dessert. Can't believe I was ever feeling deprived.

We do have exactly 4 gifts to purchase, after I did the budget this week and confirmed we have some cash left, and we are buying those on-line because it's just easier to find what you want and not have to navigate a mall and the travel there. But that's it and it feels good.

I'd rather take photos of shops than actually shop anyway.

A very happy belated birthday to you! (I get a little computer virus and you go and have your birthday! lol) I'm glad you aren't feeling deprived anymore, that's a miserable feeling.

Aaahh, Christmas....... Isn't it just magical? The lights, the giggly joy,the smells, the crisp air,the colors of the sky seem to even 'change' to reflect the coldness in the days and nights.
....CHRISTMAS, what a gift in & of itself.
