Lake sunset: this is not from my neighborhood, but my parents on Christmas Day</span>
Winter sunsets are spectacular. And each day I'm the same place - stuck in my house getting the kids to clean up all their crafts and activities while I start supper. The glamorous end to a homeschooling day.
I observe the sunset from my windows, wishing I was in a west facing log cabin in the mountains, or maybe a farm house in the wide open country or my parent's place by the lake. I try not to feel too bad. With all its hills and trees Maine doesn't offer a lot of unobscured vistas. But I am doubly disadvantaged living in the city.
So I work with what I've got, and find beauty in that. I didn't realize I had taken a shot of two almost identical sunsets two different days last week, till I found them in my photo files. They look like they were taken on the same day, they weren't.
