Common Ground Fair

I took the kids to the Common Ground Fair yesterday with my friend Jody. Jody is my close friend as well as Sage's mother. Sage is Celine's best friend.

The fair is an unique experience. It is organized by the Maine Organic Gardeners and Farmers Association. It's a showcase of Maine agricultural products, farmer's markets, organic farms, crafters etc...it is such a neat fall fair. One I'd love to take family to if they ever were to visit this time of year. As a side note earlier this spring I took an evening class by MOFGA on organic gardening and got started on my compost bins after making some connections there.

The kids had a great time in the Children's Parade. They all dressed up as vegetables, bugs etc.. and held banners and signs declaring slogans like: Home Grown, Gardens are good, Manure happens. In addition to the parade they also played with clay, painted, banged on pots and pans, listened and danced to music.

Jody & I walked through the vendors, bought soaps and honey. Enjoyed seeing all the ingenious products that the Maine cottage industry produces. We also spent time with from church who own a small business and were showcasing their products there.

It was a beautiful day, hot actually. Another wonderful Maine Moment as I am starting to call them. This place we live is really quite special and we'd love for our family to share more of it with us.
