Rain, rain, go away...

When it rains here, it really rains like for days and days. So, what do you do when you are stuck in the house on rainy spring days? You have a picnic at the beach of course! Even if the beach is set up on your kitchen floor.

Here is the kids in their bathing suits and sunglasses soaking up the rays. Thank goodness they are so imaginative. This was their idea and it brought some sanity to yesterday's rainy day. Now if we can just get through today's rainy day!

Can I come to the beach too? What wonderful imaginations. Hey, there isn't any sand to clean up! from Nana, who's looking at her bathing suit but puts her running tights on instead

Actually there was sand in Brienne's watershoes. When she took them off she had all these tiny grains stuck to her sweaty feet. Left over from last year either from the lake or the ocean beach.

Hey that looks like fun! I wish I was there to soak up the rays too. What a great way to pass the day while you are stuck in the house.

Well you can dress them all up in raincoats, boots and bring the umbrellas and go for a walk in the rain. That can be fun too! Grandma loves going for walks in the rain. If it is a light misty rain, Grandma even does gardening. The weeds are easy to pull out and transplanting is excellent when done in the rain. The plants don't suffer or wilt at all. They just keep on growing!

I've never played beach in the kitchen before but we have had picnics in the living. Our friends put a baby gate in the doorway to their kitchen and play MacDonalds with their boys. When Ja-ira's older I'll have to remember to play beach on a rainy day.

My kids play the same thing at our house. My mom got the kids a big blue blanket to use as water. I give them each towels and away they go. It's good to see them use there imaginations!
