I associated the mountains with summer vacation. It wasn't a place you lived, despite the obvious evidence of locals, it was a place you visited.

September was a whirlwind of activity and then for a solid week at the end of the month I stepped out of it all to walk in the woods and climb mountains, in sunshine and rain, with my best friend and life partner.

By the end of February I was feeling a whole lotta cranky. And then it came to me, while I was out in the woods for Laurent's birthday. I needed a solo backcountry ski trip in March.

Damien and I will do more backpacking trips, I'm positive of this. And after this experience I expect to enjoy myself when we go backpacking.
