Happy Halloween

Well here at the Tougas house it is a beautiful Halloween Monday. After a very rainy October, I think I heard on the news today it was the 2nd rainiest October on record, we are experiencing warm bright sunshine - ahhh. Today was about 20 C at the warmest point this afternoon. Tonight for trick or treating it was just gorgeous.

We've had a great time today. This morning we went to our local homeschool group halloween party. It was the biggest gathering of local homeschoolers that we've ever been at. Maybe 35 kids were there. Parents brought lots of food, candy, crafts and games. There were door prizes and raffles. The kids had a fun time. Celine was dressed as a medieval princess, Laurent was Woody the cowboy from Toy Story and Brienne was a fairy. I was a butterfly. All of our costumes were borrowed from another homeschooling family who have older kids. Their mother has made all their costumes over the years and they have quite a supply. We went "shopping" there last week and the kids picked out their costumes. They all looked so cute. I wish I could post the photos.

This afternoon we took advantage of the beautiful weather and discovered the local playground. It was our first time there since moving to this neighborhood. It is 3 blocks away from our house and I had no idea how close we were. It's at the local school and is very large. The kids had a great time there. I'm glad we finally found it.

This evening we took the kids out on our street trick or treating. They came home with quite a haul and we're all sugared up - yes even some for Mommy & Daddy. The kids are handing out candy now. It was nice to meet a few more neighbors. We're not the only Canadians on this street. Two other neighbors are from Quebec and moved to Lewiston many years ago. It's kind of neat living in a (foreign) community with a strong French Canadian heritage.

This weekend we hosted a harvest housewarming party at our house. We invited as many people as we thought our house could hold. A few families couldn't make it so had approx. 25 people including our family. Which I think was just about right. It was potluck and everybody brought great food. I planned a trivia game with an adult prize and kid prize. The whole evening was great fun - celebrating our new home, the harvest season and all of God's blessings in our lives. So, it's been a party weekend. Now, what are we going to do with all this candy??
