It always feels a little awkward to talk about advertising.
Like somehow it's a dirty word. Advertising in and of itself isn't such a creepy idea but the way it's done sometimes, that's where I find it ruffles my feathers.
I find it jarring to my senses to visit sites with lots of advertisements. And I personally can't live with the disconnect of advertising that is not representative of who I am or what I believe.
I drew a line in the sand years ago that I would not compromise my values with regards to consumerism on my blog, and if that limits my income earning potential here, so be it.
But I am experimenting with advertising here at FIMBY and in fact it's part of our plan for this space moving forward. I've watched the way other bloggers do it and I've settled (for now) on something that feels right for me - in terms of my values, my goals and mission for FIMBY.
So why am I telling you this? Because I want you to know that YOU - small business, small blog, just-getting-off-the-ground service provider - can advertise here.
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this. How to structure my advertising space and rates in a way that feels right for me (aesthetically and philosophically) and gives the advertiser the most bang for their buck. My goal is mutually beneficial partnerships.
I'm happy to announce I'm actively seeking advertisers for a very select number of spaces at FIMBY.
Why do I call it advertising and not sponsorship? Because no matter what you call it, it's still advertising.
I'm serious about YOU advertising here. You - mama with a blog who wants to get more exposure. You - family with a small business who wants to spread the word. You - coach, teacher, writer, entrepreneur wanting to promote your course, services and products.
You know how I said Damien and I are working together to use both our talents to move forward our creative visions and dreams? Well, my husband is a computer programmer (he's my secret weapon) and he's set it up so I can do some cool things, namely, offer advertising at FIMBY for a month or longer, for as little as $10.
I have only five spaces available (look to the right under featuring).
If you have a product, service or resource that you think would benefit the wonderful community of readers here at FIMBY - I'd love to see your ad in that space. Wouldn't you?
If you want general information I've laid out my current stats and advertising options here.
If you want to know actual rates (ie: how much advertisting you'll get for $10, $20, whatever) please e-mail me for all the details. I've prepared a cool little document that spells it out.
It's not a monthly sponsorship so you start an ad campaign at any time and go as long as you like.
Seriously, $10. That's all.
I know many of you sell cool things (products, services, and resources). I want to give you an opportunity to promote those here.
To people just like you - intelligent and lovely readers interested in home and family life, the natural world, and mindful living. Folks who visit to be inspired and encouraged to live their own healthy, adventurous and creative life - with beauty and intention.
Contact me if you're interested. There's no obligation, it's easy to set up if you want to do it and I don't bite. Promise.
If you want a bit of advertisting history (why I didn't before and why I do now) you can read these posts:

I really like your approach!
We need to talk - soon.
As a completely new blogger, this is encouraging to read. Just the fact that you aren't filling ad space to make money is refreshing. Thanks!
I would like to get your information on advertising. I have a collection of whole food, plant-based, allergen-free recipe books and health guides (www.simplynaturalhealth.com and www.goodandeasyeats.com) and would potentially be interested in advertising on your blog. My Good and Easy Eats book has an affiliate plan that you might also be interested in.

Love this, Renee. I respect the way you have handled yourself all along in this department. What a fabulous way to earn income and allow for reasonably priced advertising for small businesses. Maybe down the road I'll be able to adverstise through you ;)
