losing time

I lost an hour this morning. I checked the time at 9:30 and then the next time I looked it was 11am and oops we were supposed to do school stuff from 10-11.

I don't remember exactly how that happened or what transpired during that hour but I do recall cleaning out the cricket jar (we feed the crickets to the lizards) and in the process losing a couple critters. These insects are 5 mm long at best and catching them as they jumped around our learning room floor was rather hilarious. And I also remember washing dishes, trying to get the sink clean before starting school. Well I did eventually get it cleaned but at that point my time alloted for helping the kids with writing and math was gone. Oh well. The kids spent most of that lost hour studying aerodynamics and principles of flight, ie: they made paper airplanes.

I took these pictures this morning, maybe during the hour in question. I'm proud of such nicely groomed girls since I'm not a hair-mommy nor do I choose their clothes so some days Brienne is an absolute ragamuffin. Damien installed the new fan in Laurent's room this weekend so his room is complete and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Such cute girls! And Laurent's room looks great. Thinking of your title, losing time. As our Korean friend, Joon, used to say, time goes like an arrow. I think time is spent, you can't win it or lose it, it just keeps slipping away, ticking along...
