When I add up all the time I spend planning, shopping, organizing, cooking, and cleaning up the kitchen it's plain to see the job of preparing food for my family is the number one thing I do. I spend more time on this multifaceted job than I do homeschooling, photo taking, gardening (part of the garden is for food after all), hiking, and any other thing I might write about here.

I never know from week to week exactly what vegetables will be included in our weekly share. This summer I made menu prep (from a seasonal csa share) easier by creating a set menu plan each week that I just "plug" the vegetables into.

Meals are cornerstone daily rituals we plan for, anticipate, cook, sit down and eat and of course clean up after three times each day. This makes me think it would be nice to live in a place where they only eat 2 meals a day - does such a place exist?

I don't know what things are like where you live but around here local foods cost more. This seems a shame but the reality is that local food costs reflect the true cost of food.
