Let's try this again shall we.

I've had the pleasure recently of making the on-line acquaintance of Rachel Wolf from LüSa Organics. LüSa Organics is a small family business that makes and sells natural soaps and bodycare products. 

Why a giveaway? Well mostly I wanted to draw your attention to this sweet little company. Since I'm unable to sell my own soaps at this time I'd like to support other small businesses who are giving it a go.

I love making my own soap but realize that not everyone has the opportunity or desire to craft their own bodycare products (though you really should consider it, it's easy and adds touches of loveliness into everyday life). If you love handmade soap and aren't making it yourself maybe you'd consider buying from this small family business, literally a mom & pop (and two kiddo) shop.

I can't vouch myself for having tried any LüSa Organics products; I make all our skin care products after all so don't need to purchase any. I was the one who approached Rachel about hosting this giveaway because I want to support what her family is doing and also because I love to give away quality goodies on my blog. Who doesn't want or need a bar or handmade soap?


Lavender Lemonade: my latest batch of spring soap

So this is how it will work. LüSa Organics will giveaway two bars of soap (one a piece) to two lucky readers. Please visit their site and scroll through to see what bar you would like best, I know it's hard to choose from a such a wonderful selection.

I personally love the look (blue is a color I have yet to experiment with, need to get some natural ultramarine oxide for coloring) of Gaia's garden and use those three essential oils - lavender, mint and rosemary in many of my own soaps.

Come back here and leave a comment with the name of the soap you'd like to win. Giveaway closes Sunday night, April 11th. I will randomly draw two names and LüSa Organics will mail out your soap. Congrats Bridget & Michelle.

Giveaway is open to all North American residents (I asked Rachel specifically about being willing to ship to Canada since I know some of you live there).  Since others of you visit from overseas I'd like to include you too but if you win and for some reason shipping is too difficult for LüSa Organics because of customs and what not I will mail you a bar of my own latest creation, Lavender Lemonade. Sound ok?

I also recommend Rachel's blog, Clean. She shares tidbits of her family life that I identify with and appreciate - raising kids, cooking, using herbs, living creativity, and of course... making body care products.

    I really like the Dancin' Fool soap or the Frankincense and Myrrh (spelling?) Both would smell divine. Thanks for telling me about this company, I buy all of our soap (handmade, usually off Etsy) or through the health food store. I really love soap but don't have the time to make my own...

    Oh the Lemongrass+ginger for sure.. I adore lemongrass and ginger is my closest friend in the kitchen ;)

    GAias GArden or the Lemongrass and Ginger would be divine- although your lavendar lemonade sounds awesome!! Recently smelled a candle that was lemon Lavendar (a friend chose it for her home birth) and the smell was wonderfully intoxicating!!

      yep, we can do that. And if I know you're coming to visit me I'll save you one of my bars too! But you have to come and have tea to get some (smile).

    Oh my, the lullaby soap is so pretty! However, I think I'd choose the calendula baby soap - sounds nice :)

    Ooooh, I'd like the Gaia's Garden. I love the Burt's Bees Rosemary Peppermint soap. But I bet this one is divine with the added lavender scent. The Eucalyptus Mint on is really awesome looking! I think you'd need to bathe with that if you had a head cold. I bet it opens up the sinuses!

    I would choose the Calendula baby soap, because my son has eczema and very sensitive skin. Funny, I make my own lotions, salves and tinctures, but never my own soap. I guess that's something I'll just fork out the money for, for now:)

    Oh sheesh! That is hard. What great soap names! I'm going to have to say the laughter soap is my favorite. Who doesn't want some soap to make them laugh! Thanks for the awesome giveaway Renee! What a great company to support and get out there!

    I think I would really like Gaia's Garden Soap I would also really like the recipe for your Lavender Lemonade if you're willing to share :) I don't make soap very often but I have in the past (pre-kids) and think your Lavender Lemonade soap may just be what gets me back to making soap - I can almost smell it from the picture... :)

    I would love to try the Gitchigumee Soap. First, such a great name!! Second, it sounds so refreshing. I would love to make my own soap, but it's just not in the cards at the moment, so this would be a great substitute!

    Renee, thank you for sharing this site. I am definitely going to put in an order, I love supporting great family businesses and I have been looking for some good natural soap for my sensitive skin (I just cannot fit soap making into my life right now!).

    Everything on the site looks luscious, but the calendula baby soap is probably what I would start with.

    All of the soaps look amazing and I bet they all smell just divine! Gaia's Garden Soap would be great!

    I love the new look of your site Renee! I've been following your blog for a few months now and I'm loving everything I read :) I would love to start making my own soaps and lotions but I'm having a hard time finding ingredients locally. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

      Pam, another reader recommended Camden-Grey as a place to buy lye and other ingredients. I've heard good things about Mountain Rose Herbs  and Liberty Natural Products for essential oils.  Haven't ordered from either place though so can't speak from experience.

      Lotion making is as easy as going to your local grocery store though and maybe finding a honey supplier close by to buy beeswax. Any oil will work and you don't need the essential oils, though they do add so much. I think making connections within your own community to source ingredients can be an very enriching part of the whole process.

    I'd pick Sweet Soul Sister. I used to make our own soap for years and gave away all my supplies when I realized it was causing me more grief/guilt for not doing it than it was benefiting me. I had too much going on then. That was 5 years ago and I just realized last month that I'm ready to make soap once again. I'm going smaller this time - no more huge drums of oil for me. Your site inspired me to make it again, so thanks!
