Encouraging Creativity in Your Home

I'm over at Simple Homeschool today talking about how to encourage creativity in your homeschool (I told you there was a creative groove going on this month). What I offer there applies to families with children in traditional school settings also.
I put together this post in response to readers' questions here at FIMBY. I'm very excited to share it with you because I feel it offers a good starting point if you are wondering how to foster a creative mindset in your home.
What I share in that post can be applied to life and learning in general.
Discovering your own creativity (or desire to learn), encouraging gifts, celebrating your family's unique interests, stocking the shelves, accepting the mess, making time, and finding resources. All of these will help learning and creativity blossom in your home.
There is so much more I could say on the importance of creativity (and I don't just mean painting or drawing). It is our creative desires as a family that is a motivating factor in our move back to Canada.
We are full of ideas (some might say we're full of something) about improving family life, helping our children make the transition to adulthood, and making meaningful contributions to our community and society.
Creativity is what helps us think outside the box in those areas. It's a driving force in our home and it's a driving force in this move.

I'm feeling very inspired by your creative home! I have been trying to find ways to make creativity a part of my family's daily life...so I'm really eating up your posts on the subject! Loved your post at Simple Homeschool!

I know this is completely unrelated, but Glen says to tell you that you should exchange your U.S. dollar to Canadian dollar soon because the U.S. dollar is dropping so much in value! But to stay on topic, I really enjoyed the post!

That assumes we have money to change (ha, ha). Most of our moving expenses are in the US, in US dollars. We aren't moving with much in the way of money but thanks for the heads up.
