A week of Eats ~ Get Ready

I've mentioned before, in fact I wrote a whole post about it, that I spend more time in the kitchen than homemaking or homeschooling or any other task I do. Yet I don't talk much about that because I get more joy from the non-consumptive creative aspects of my life. Ie: although cooking is a very creative act it gets eaten each and every time.

There is no permanency, except of course good health and memories, from all that work and effort. I'm not trivializing the health of my family (just whining a bit) but some days the effort seems large and the immediate rewards few.

In this current stage of my life I find the writing of words and capturing the beauty of food through my camera lens so much more satisfying than preparing meals.  Not surprisingly, my family prefers to eat food, not words or photos. So I spend my days mostly crafting meals and fitting in my creative projects where I can.

That was quite a ramble, when what I really want to say is that this week on the blog I will be focusing on food and the kitchen. I'm calling it a week of eats. I have some recipes, links and food talk to share.

Should be fun. Well at least the eating part.

Almost forgot to mention... Happy Mother's Day. I will be absent from my usual spot at the kitchen counter. One of my family's gifts to me, a day off from cooking (smile).

Heh, that's great! Even though I know you guys eat lots of beans, rice, greens... I've often wondered about more details. Especially now, with our youngest having yeast and egg allergies, I'm being stretched yet again to figure out how to best feed my hungry, growing family so I appreciate inspiration or direction from healthy families. I look forward to your "week of eats". Just so you know... those three photos above are very nice - my favorite is the oranges.

I'm getting such positive feedback from these photos. How interesting. I love taking backlit photos, for lack of a better definition. Maybe I should share more of them in my posts. Hum...
