Autumn Spice Cake ~ A seasonal soap recipe

This moment feels like fall as I sit here crunching a Nova Scotia Macintosh apple and take in the changing foliage across the river from my parent's property. But the day also feels like summer vacation since I'm sitting in a camping trailer, door wide open, enjoying the sun following an afternoon of boating.

I'm a bit mixed up these days, reveling in the summer"ish" hospitality of my parents (supper on the grill, smores around the fire) at the same time appreciating the nip in the nighttime air and the coziness of quilts on the beds.

My soap is not confused though. Its fragrance, color and texture speak only of fall; spiced apple cider, pumpkin pie and cinnamon stick. Not wanting to waste the vanilla beans left after making vanilla extract I dehydrated, ground, and mixed them into the middle layer for texture and color.

I like making seasonal soap. Winter Woods, Lavender Lemonade, and now Autumn Spice Cake.

I had planned for a while to make this most recent soap and got it done finally last week. Just in time for hostess gifts (as both Damien and I have the privilege of staying in people's homes on our current travels) and to stock my mom's soap stash. With a few bars leftover for random gifts and our family's soap needs.

But first it needs to cure. And when it's done curing, sometime mid-October, I'm sure it will definitely feel like fall, even here in holding-onto-summer Nova Scotia.

What are the proportions of the ingredients when making your Summer Shoo-fly, Lavender Lemonade and Autumn Spice Cake soaps? They sound great and I'd love to try making them! Thanks for sharing!!

I don't have any proportions to share. I make it up each time as I go based on what ingredients I have on hand.  This post, 4 steps to making homemade soap has a very standard recipe as far as the oils. For 86 oz. of oil I use approximately 4 oz. of essential oil.
